Antiques in the Ally makes its return to Millersburg

Like the summer sun, the old fashioned fun of Millersburg heats up in August.

Always a popular destination for antiques and collectables, reclaimed, rediscovered and restored treasures will fill the town — inside and out of its quaint shops —during Antiques in the Alley, which will be held on Saturday, August 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

During the town's signature event — the second of the year — all of Downtown, from the alleys to the sidewalks to the Courthouse lawn, and, of course, the local shops, will be literally loaded with antiques, refurbished and recreated household items and other interesting arts and crafts supplemented with plenty of food and lively entertainment.

With lively music, entertainment and food vendors contributing to the always festive atmosphere, Antiques in the Alley is not only an opportunity to discover intriguing items for your home, but is also a chance to mingle with creative artisans and absorb some inspiring ideas for home projects of your own.

Learn how others have turned trash into treasure.

Among the items featured will be furniture, glass items, garden accents, folk art and salvage art.

Since the event began in 2007, Antiques in the Alley has drawn thousands of guests each year from around Ohio and surrounding states.

Piggybacking on those festivities, the focus will move a couple miles westward on Route 39, where the Holmes County Fair will be held Monday, August 6, through Saturday, August 11.

With its old fashioned emphasis on animals and children's activities, the fair this year will feature a full rodeo competition. Other highlights will include the demolition derby, a tractor pull, motocross and, of course, plenty of food, games and stage entertainment. Spotlighting this year will be Bucky Covington, an American Idol contender and best selling debut artist of 2007.

During the week of non-stop fun, the pubs and eateries of Downtown Millersburg will have their doors open for evening relaxation, entertainment and socializing. With lodging available within walking distance of the conviviality, early August is an ideal time to check in and check out all that Millersburg has to offer.
